The District's Facilities Services Division puts out to bid construction projects that generally divide into two categories: new construction projects and (existing) facilities projects. Generally speaking, new construction projects include the construction of new buildings, schools, primary care centers, additions to existing school sites and other new structures. Projects for existing school facilities generally include the alteration, renovation, demolition, repair, improvement, upgrading, modernization, rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of existing school and/or school support facilities and systems.

Intent of District's Prequalification Programs

It is the intent of the District to do business with quality contractors by identifying such contractors through a uniform system of rating bidders to obtain the best quality construction for the lowest price practicable under the circumstances. The District's prequalification programs are adopted pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 20111.5, 20111.6 and 20919.4.

Prequalification Program Summary

Safety Prequalification - Required to bid on informal contracts and other projects for which safety prequalification is required.
Subcontractor Prequalification - Required for all first-tier MEP contractor holding a C-4, C-7, C-10, C-16, C-20, C-34, C-36, C-38, C-42, C-43 or C-46 license classifications.
Formal/Prime Contractor Prequalification - Required to bid on formal contracts, master JOC contracts, Best Value, and 17406.
Project-Specific Prequalification - Required for specified or special projects with more demanding experience and licensing requirements.

Get Vendor Number

LAUSD is happy to announce that we have transitioning to SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance (SLP). SLP allows suppliers to self-serve and maintain their data through SAP Ariba. It is imperative that you obtain an Ariba Vendor Number in order to submit bids and proposals, to be issued contracts and purchase orders, and to be paid.

Existing Vendors/Contractors who have an SAP Vendor number with LAUSD must have an email invitation triggered to them. Please check your email for “Ariba” or contact the Vendor Services Unit for assistance please contact Procurement Vendor Services using the contact information below.

Brand New Vendors/Contractors who have never had an SAP Vendor Number with LAUSD can start the registration process for an LAUSD Ariba Supplier number by selecting “Apply for Vendor Number here!” below. If you are unsure whether you have an SAP Vendor Number, please contact Procurement Vendor Services using the contact information below.

*IMPORTANT: If you are an Existing Vendor/Contractor (you have an LAUSD SAP Vendor Number) please DO NOT use the “Apply for Vendor Number here!” button. This will delay your transition into Ariba.

Prequalification Requirements

The following prequalification requirements are applicable to all bids:

Bidders must be pre-qualified in order to submit a bid for all formal, competitively bid school construction projects.
Bidders must annually pre-qualify by submitting a completed Prequalification Questionnaire.
California Contractor's License - Bidders shall have, at the time of submission of the bid, the appropriate license(s) in full force and effect for the work to be performed under the contract.
To pre-qualify, applicant must have State Worker's Compensation Insurance.
All insurance coverage must be provided through a California-admitted Insurance Company with an A-VII or higher rating, according to the A.M. Best Company standards.
Provide bonding by a surety company licensed to do business in California.
Provide Contractor References and/or current financial statement, as specified in the questionnaire.
Compliance with District requirements (including the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP), Project Stabilization Agreement (PSA) for BB Bond funded projects and Prevailing Wage)
Achieve a passing Contractor Performance Score of at least 35 of 50 points each for Field and Compliance Components
